The world famous “HEPOLITE” brand with their distinctive yellow and black packaging has announced plans to compliment their recently relaunched piston range with a range of Original Equipment specification piston rings.

The Hepolite brand has a long history of producing engine components and is well known for engine parts for many classic British vehicles, many of whom were supplied as OE with Hepolite branded piston, rings & bearings.

Paul Grosvenor, who has held positions at piston manufacturers including MAHLE & Kolbenschmidt and who is now responsible for the Hepolite product range comments “We have received a tremendous response to the relaunch of HEPOLITE pistons and many of our customers have requested that we develop the range with additional products. Piston rings is the first of these new products. Initially we will concentrate the range on premium material parts such as steel nitrided and DLC coated ring sets as well as applications where we feel we can add a higher value option to other suppliers in the market”

The initial range consists of rings sets not only for older vehicles, but also modern high-performance vehicles such as BMW M3 & M5 which use the BMW S65 V8 and S85 V10 engines. Grosvenor continued “The high-performance road car market is particularly buoyant at the moment, and many of these vehicles are either being used on the track in one make race series or as track day vehicle. Many of the well-known manufacturers are not only slow to respond to the demands in the market for these parts, but when they do the price level is very often close to that of OEM parts. With our HEPOLITE brand, when plan to offer parts that are competitively priced against OEM and established aftermarket brands with no compromise on quality or specification”.

All HEPOLITE parts are manufactured in world class facilities that are not only certified to international quality standards, but are also producing for global vehicle OEMS. Grosvenor comments “Quality is always the main point and one area where we will not compromise with the HEPOLITE brand. In fact, many of our parts are an upgraded specification when compared to other brands and OEM. For example, our BMW S65 / S85 rings use a ductile iron second rings to improve performance, our competitors are using cast iron and on other parts we have specified steel nitrided rings rather than chrome plated cast”.

Compared to cast pistons, forgings are tougher and more durable, and will stand up to the abuse that high performance motorsport applications require. Most castings are brittle, have no grain structure and tend to fail catastrophically when the material yield strength is exceeded. Forgings have condensed grain that is aligned to the features of the part, which produces higher mechanical properties, and resistance to impact and fatigue. Each forging is designed to optimize the strength-to-weight ratio, and maximize performance.

BMW M3 & M5 S65 V8 & S85 V10 Pistons

MAHLE’s new BMW S65 pistons are designed to either replace the OE cast piston, or provide a lower compression piston for those customers who want to turn up the boost. Our Gold Coating allows the customer to drop these pistons in the factory cylinders. Features include:

• Thick, slipper skirt style forging

• Maximized top and second ring lands

• Hard anodized top ring groove

• Larger valve pockets to accommodate up to +1.0mm larger valves

• Nitrated stainless 1.2mm top, 1.2mm taper 2nd & 2.8mm oil ring set

• Available in the factory compression ratio; 12.2:1 or a lower compression alternative; 10.1:1

BMW PowerPak Kits feature pistons with MAHLE’s 4032 alloy for its high temperature strength and low noise characteristics, steel pins, and MAHLE’s proven piston rings which delivers excellent ring-to-cylinder sealing with low mass and extended RPM range without loss of ring stability. The pistons are dual coated with phosphate and MAHLE’s Gold skirt coating for greatly reduced drag and wear as well as guaranteed compatibility with OEM Alusil blocks . For maximum durability, the top ring grooves are hard anodized to protect against micro-welding.

High Performance Conrods for Focus RS MK2

Now available, 4340 forged steel conrods suitable for the Ford Focus RS MK2 2.5 5 cylinder Turbo and the Ford Focus ST 2.5 Turbo.

Produced exclusively for MAR Motorsport by Bridgeway (BW), these parts form part of the Extreme Performance Range (EPR) of Bridgeway products. Designed for high power builds and supplied as standard with GENUINE ARP2000 bolts, these parts are suitable for engines of up to 1,000hp. With the bolts upgraded to custom age ARP parts, they are suitable for a massive 1,200hp!

Bridgeway or BW as they are also known are a leading producer of steel crankshafts & con rods who supply many famous brands globally. The undisputed market leader in Asia – these are serious parts for serious racers. Parts are not only matched by total weight to +-1g, but all parts are also balanced end to end. All are magnafluxed to ensure that no cracks or material defects are present, before shot peening for stress reduction.

With interest in classic motorsport at an all time high, the original 911 2.0 is becoming a common site in all forms of classic racing, from rallying to LeMans. The only pistons and cylinders to perform as well as the original parts are those manufactured by the original parts manufacturer – MAHLE.

MAR Motorsport are the leading UK and European distributor for MAHLE Motorsport, the specialist racing division of MAHLE. Our range includes pistons and nikasil cylinders for the range of Porsche air cooled engines, including the 2.0S.

Cylinders are nikasil plated aluminium and are externally identical to the original parts. Pistons are designed from the original drawing and produced from and upgraded “slipper” forging. All parts are dry phosphate coated to prevent microwelding in the ring grooves before MAHLE proprietary Graphal skirt coating is applied. Unlike other parts produced from 2618 alloy, the MAHLE Motorsport pistons run close to factory clearances so piston slap is a not an issue.

Pistons are supplied in weight matched sets of 6 complete with upgraded steel piston rings and German manufactured piston pins.

Forged IAPEL pistons for the legendary Ford / Cosworth YB Engine.

Manufactured exclusively for MAR Motorsport by the leading producer of forged pistons in South America. IAPEL are active in many forms of motorsport. From wins in all classes in the Turismo Carretera, to dirt bikes to factory supply to rally teams. IAPEL pistons are also used extensively in drag racing, with sub 2 litre 4 cylinder engines producing over 1,000 HP!

These parts are designed for the WRC or 136mm long rod engine configuration. Complete with valve pockets, they are also suitable for machining custom bowl designs. Unlike many forged pistons, these parts are dual coated fro friction reduction (hence their non shiny appearance). They are supplied complete with NPR Japanese steel nitrided rings, which are an upgrade from the standard MAHLE design.

Available in 91.33mm bore size, these pistons are designed for high power YB engines, with none of the weaknesses of the standard MAHLE part.

Available exclusively from MAR Motorsport, piston rings for MK1 Focus RS 2.0 Turbo

Traditionally piston rings for the MK1 Focus RS have been unavailable as separate items, the only option was to replace the complete piston. We have worked directly with MAHLE, the Original Equipment supplier of the pistons and piston rings for this engine to Ford, to secure supply of replacement piston rings at standard bore size of 84.80mm.

These MAHLE piston rings are a direct replacement for the rings used on the original MAHLE pistons in the Ford Focus MK1 RS with the 2.0l turbo charged Zetec engine, engine code HMDA. These replacement parts are identical in every way to the rings fitted to the pistons when the vehicle left the Ford factory. This means not only can these engines now be overhauled cost effectively, but they can also be overhauled using parts in identical quality to the original.

Now Available – Classic Porsche 911, 930, 964 & 993 aircooled pistons and cylinders.

Pistons and nikasil cylinders have become increasingly difficult to source for many classic aircooled Porsche in Original Equipment quality in recent years. To overcome the supply issues, we have worked with the Motorsport division of MAHLE who were the OE Supplier of these parts to Porsche to offer a complete range of parts to keep these classic vehicles running as the factory intended.

We can offer pistons and cylinders for most models from the original 911 2.0l through to the 3.6l 993 engines and everything in between including the 930 turbo models. All cylinders are from the original tooling and are complete with the MAHLE nikasil coating process. Pistons are forged and are taken in many cases from the original factory designs. All are supplied with high quality MAHLE piston rings.

Complementing the standard parts are a range of big bore kits to increase the capacity of these vehicles. As they use the original MAHLE cylinder castings, but at a larger bore size, externally there is no visual difference. Upgrading with these MAHLE kits therefor allows you to increase the performance of your classic Porsche whilst retaining OE standard parts to retain the value of these appreciating classics.

With kits available from 3.0l to 3.2l, 3.2, to 3.4l and from 3.6l to 3.8l then the chances are we have suitable parts for your car. If not, then we can work with MAHLE to produce your exact requirements to special order.

Nikasil cylinders are available in 80mm, 84mm, 86.7mm 98mm & 102mm as well as in standard factory sizes.

We have worked closely with the Motorsport division of MAHLE to develop these parts which are exclusive to MAR Motorsport. They feature 8.5:1 compression ratio and hard anodised ring grooves along with MAHLE double coating of dry phosphate to prevent micro welding and pin galling and Grafal anti friction coating. Forged from MAHLE proprietary M142S alloy these parts have the low noise characteristics of 4032 alloy with the strength of 2618.

MAHLE Motorsport forged pistons benefit from over 90 years of knowledge in piston production. MAHLE have supported numerous world championship wining teams at all levels of motorsport, from Formula One down. MAHLE have been at the cutting edge of Motorsport for many years, they have won world championships at all levels of motorsport including Formula 1. They are currently technical partners to Ferrari in F1 and their logo can be proudly seen on the nose of their 2017 F1 car.

MAHLE Motorsport bearings are made in the UK in a dedicated facility that only produces race bearings. These parts have the proprietary lead indium (not lead tin or lead, tin, copper) overlay and the cast (not sintered) substrate that is commonly known as VP2, or the best performance material there is for engine bearings.

No other bearings are as high specification as these parts, and no other company produces bearings for F1!
